FAQ's

Is there an age limit?
Face painting is fun for everyone!  Still, we recommend that infants under 1 year not be painted.  For older kids, please keep in mind that it is up to the child and his/her parent if they want to be painted. Being still can be difficult, but we can paint quickly on a hand or arm, or apply a temporary tattoo as an alternative. And of course, face painting can often be popular among adults at parties, too- we will do this happily AFTER all of the children have had their fill.

What designs are available?  Do you do themes?
We encourage children to use their imaginations, and we will offer designs from an album when needed.  If you have a particular theme in mind, please let us know so we can be prepared, but be ready for the kids' creativity to run wild!  We aim to keep them happy, and sometimes that means straying from a specific theme.

What sort of paints do you use?
We use the highest quality, makeup industry standard paints.  They are water-based and non-toxic, providing vivid colors that are safe for children and come off of clothes and faces easily. The glitter we use is cosmetic grade.  Our brushes and sponges are makeup grade.  We are conscientious about rinsing out brushes thoroughly in between colors and customers, and changing paint water often.  This does NOT guarantee that a child will not experience a reaction, and we and our Friends are not responsible for any reaction that may occur.

What is the best way to remove face paint?
Most colors we use are easily removed with a baby wipe or a wet washcloth. However, some colors such as green or red can leave a slight stain on the skin. In these instances we suggest using a touch of olive or baby oil.

What do we need to provide you?
Our Friends need a pair of chairs and some table space (a corner of larger table works well, but a small, individual table is preferred).  We can work inside or outside in a well-shaded and sheltered area. We need access to water for our brushes, and good light.

What time will you arrive?
We generally arrive 10 mins prior to the start of your party to enable enough time to setup so that we are able to paint for the full amount of time you have hired us.

How do we pay you?
To secure your booking, a 50% deposit must be made using a credit card via PayPal.  The remainder is due as a cash payment to your Friend on the day of the event. Our Friends DO NOT take personal or business checks or credit cards.  Gratuities are appreciated if you feel it appropriate!

What is your cancellation policy?
Facepaint Friends will issue a 50% refund of your deposit if you cancel one week or more before your event.  In the event of cancellation during the final week before the event, deposits will NOT be refunded. Deposits are NOT transferable.
